"Circles" strip quilt DONE!

We first sneeked you all a peak of the circles strip quilt HERE then another peek HERE . We are happy to say this quilt project is now done, and we are so happy with the way it turned out!

We took all of our favorite prints out of this collection and cut them into different sizes, we also added in some solids to break up the circles.

I used some of my little one's stickers and marked them with the numbers for my rows so I made sure not to get my order mixed. After my top was all put together, I decided I wanted to quilt the top a bit before I attached it to my rose cuddle backing. I found this tutorial on pinterest on making a no binding quilt, which I really liked because you still can quilt the top.

I just did some straight line quilting randomly on some of the strips, which added some design and texture.

I then sewed my top and bottom right sides together leaving a opening for turning. Oh course I used rose cuddle minky and totally love it!

details:
fabric top- metro living circles
backing- frosted rose cuddle in brown
measures- 38" x 46"

Quick tip Monday-improve quilt layout board

I'm starting a new post today and every Monday which will feature easy tips, creative ideas and simple things to make our busy lives a little easier..It will be called "QUICK TIP MONDAY" I hope this post will help you get organized and make your week go a little smoother and productive..

Over the weekend I was working on one of my quilt kits, (soon to be available for purchase, in a boy crib size) from Cluck Cluck Sew and her quilt pattern Kaleidoscope. Found HERE I was all finished piecing and wanted to lay out my blocks, and since I wanted to get it going, I knew that my blocks wouldn't stay put with my 2.5 yr old running around... at this point I was seriously wishing I had one of those boards to lay your blocks out on (can't think of what it's named. if it has a legal name) so I improvised...

I had a thick interfacing that I had bought on bolt to use for some bags I'm planning on making and realized if I opened it up and draped it from my top shelf then my blocks would stick and be out of the hands from my little one.. this worked so well...

Your batting would work just as great. If you don't have tall shelves like I do, then use the top of your kitchen cabinets, (do it between meals, so your hubby won't get mad) or even drape it over your stairway or on top of high hutches or dressers.. Tons of great places to hang this and keep out of the hands of our kids. and even better FREE, portable and space saver...

Hope you enjoyed this great tip, go try it and let me know what you think!

The joys of being a aunty...

I'm a AUNTIE... and I am so excited and can't wait to meet the little one in May (summer trip back home to Hawaii, yippee) BUT for now I can only spoil her from far away... Don't you just love the owls and hot pink minky blanket that baby Kenzi is snuggled in? Those owls were just too cute to pass up. They can be found HERE, HERE, and HERE

I also couldn't resist making her these cute head bands

I bought little less than 100 of the crouched bands in all different colors for such a great price from HERE. I am a little bumbed that silver and pewter were sold out, but I guess those are there most popular colors..

I managed to squeeze in some time on my silhouette (which is saying a lot) to make these two adorable onesies... I tell you it is so easy and looks so professional with the heat transfer material...If I only had more time I would create many more things.

and last but not least, something for my sister..I found this awesome and super easy tutorial from DIARY OF A QUILTER, and made this super cute (can't buy in the store) nursing cover... She picked out the fabric, but I have to say this STARLING print in pink from Alexander Henry has always been one of my all time favorites..can be found HERE

{thanks Kelsey for modeling! :) }

So much fun to makes these gifts, and so easy... so please, don't go buy baby gifts just make them yourself.. it's so rewarding and trust me your gift will be the spotlight of the shower...enjoy!

Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday was a great day. Besides watching the game my husband was off so I was able to finished some well need projects.
The first being my 19 months old daughters hoody towel. I decided to make one instead of buying since I have so much towels laying around that we got from our wedding. It turned out pretty good! I'm glad I finally got that DONE. I have been playing to make that for a couple of months now. If really feel accomplished!!!! Opps I forgot the fabric stip that I was going to sew on, guess it's not quite done.

The other thing I need to finished was this so cute baby boy blanket. I love Riley Blake's new line WHEELS. It is too cute! I just had to make a boy blanket out of it. Now should I sell it on etsy or keep it to use as a gift? hmm!!!! such a hard decision.

Sunday's are just great day's to begin with, but to have the hubby off so he can entertain our kid and watch football so I can get some work done is even better!!!!
