Fabric covered Moleskins tutorial
As soon as my cousin (who has a awesome blog, orangepeelbaby) gave me this cute notebook last Christmas, I spent the whole year wondering how she made it...I finally got the scoops and besides being so easy and fast, it is totally adorable and makes the best little gift..(or keep for yourself, I stole all my sisters ones and have like 4, there so great)
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Moleskine journals- I recommend getting the kraft brown covered ones, the other colors might show through the fabric, they sell them in packs of 3. (I found mine at Boarders and Amazon also carries them)
3 scraps of fabric you love (key to making these look so cute) measuring at least 11" x 9"
double sided fusible webbing, approximately same amount of you have in fabric (I used wonder under because I had it, but there are many kinds. got mine at jo-anns)
iron, ironing board
Here's what you do, you could probably figure it out but just in case...
How to make:
1. Cut a piece of the fusible webbing slightly larger than the size of your journal when opened and completely flat.
2. Iron on webbing to your scrap fabric's wrong side, following the package instructions.
3. When cooled, peel the paper backing off the webbing. ( I like to use a needle or pin and sore this area, it makes it easier to remove.
4. Center the journal on fabric's wrong side, making sure you have it centered within the area covered by the fusible webbing. Close the journal, keeping the fabric folded around it.
5. With your iron, hold the journal in your hand, spine up, and carefully iron the spine area to gently adhere the fusible webbing first.
6. Once you feel it's set, open the journal, cover facing up, and in small sections, begin adhere the fusible webbing to the journal cover. You will see it start to adhere. Allow to cool slightly.
7. Trim the fabric completely flush with the edges of the journal cover all around, then iron the corners and edges of your journal again to be sure all are fused together.
I'm really into leaving the selvage on things, which I think looks great on this book...so pop in some good music and have fun making this notebooks...

Quilt in a Bag, CAT IN THE HAT
I love, love, love the NEW Cat in the Hat fabric, I have had it in stock for a few months now...It has been so popular and every time I cut a order of it I am always wanting to make a baby blanket... So I finally did!
I love this pattern from Moda but first saw it on Oh Fransson's blog. I loved the fabric she used for her baby quilt, and was planning to do one along the same color lines. But when I finally decided to make this quilt I wanted a pattern that was fast and easy...Which is why I choose this one..
It is so easy and fast I really finished in a weekend, faster if you don't have a little 2 yd old wanting to always be in your lap, while your sewing..
This is why I choose this pattern for my FIRST ever QUILT IN BAG KIT Included in this kit is everything but the batting.
Finished quilt measures 33x40
This kit includes:
38 PRE-CUT charm pack squares of all the fabric I have in stock
white kona cotton for sashing
black kona cotton for binding
1 and 1/4 backing (THIS IS YOUR CHOICE OF WHICH cat in the hat PRINT YOU WOULD LIKE, subject to availability.) I used titles in black and white.
You provide your own batting:
37 x 44
pattern not included but FREE to download, HERE.
What else can I say about this pattern, besides being so EASY and FAST....Want a great quilt in a weekend, buy this QUILT KIT and have fun sewing a bright and fun quilt, any baby would love...

Oreo Chocolate Truffles tutorial
SIDE NOTE: This is a super quick post I wanted to get up in case any of you wanted to make these for goodies giving..they are so quick and easy and oh so yummie! since this post was put together rather quick, my pictures areN'T edited and lighting in my house was gloomy today.. But I think you get the idea... Enjoy and try not to eat these all yourself, they are just that GOOD!
RECIPE:
1 18-0z package cookies oreo's (I guess any other cookie would work as well)
1 8 oz package cream cheese softened
1 12 oz package semi sweet chocolate chips
1 tbs shortening
any topping (optional)
(don't mind the butter in this pic, I thought I could use it since I ran out of shortening but NO it doesn't work...DONT try it! it makes your choco hard like a rock, who would of known....)
You want to crumble the whole package of cookies, the whole cookie even the filling, a food process works great for this..
it should look likes this when its done.. I then put it in my mixer to mix with the soft cream cheese.
You want to mix it very well, something like this.
Now your ready to roll into 1 inch balls.
I placed them on a wax paper pan. I then melted my chocolate and dipped my balls, this is a bit messy but you can lick your fingers for clean up....heheh I did!
For a topping I crushed up some candy canes and sprinkled on top while the choco was drying.
It was a very ambitious day of baking I also made chocolate, Carmel covered prestles and a islandl favorite baked chex mix snack.. all so very yummie!
Enjoy your holiday baking and hopefully you can try this new reciepe like I did...I think it's a keeper!
