A must see while in Hawaii...
While in Hawaii you MUST visit Fabric Mart. There are many locations on Oahu and the other islands but my 2 favorites are the Kaneohe Location (45-681 Kam Hwy.Kaneohe, HI 96744 and the Aiea location (98-023 Hekaha St. HarborCenter Bldg. #1-1 Aiea, HI 96701 where all the below photos are from) Go HERE for other locations.
Fabric Mart is the biggest fabric shop on the island where you can find the largest selcetion of hawaiian print fabric.
They also have a wide range of home decor fabrics and some specialty, like these rose textured fabrics.
Lots of lace and glitter fabric
It's a bit overwhelming, but its fun to look!
Other items they carry.
If you are looking for designer cottons like the ones I carry in my shoppe from designers like Amy Butler and Patty Young then Fabric mart is not the place for you. They don't carry modern designer fabrics, however they do have a good selection of Japanese imports like these adorable fabrics.
I also found tons of different prints in the popular Hello Kitty brand, so cute I want to get some for my shoppe.
While on your trip to Hawaii take some time out from the beach and head on over to one of the many locations and have fun looking!

Quick tip Monday - which way to iron triangles
A great tip when sewing triangle for beginner sewer is to press the seems in one direction. This is usually towards the darker color, this prevents shadows on the front of the quilt and makes the back of the quilt top as neat as the front.
This Kaleidoscope quilt pattern will be available in a quilt kit in June. But here is a sneak peak! If you can't want to use the pattern now, you can find it HERE.

Quick tip Monday-sewing with plush fabrics
I love sewing with plush fabrics otherwise know as minky, cuddle, flannel or fleece. With all the great choice and variety's out there who wouldn't. As much as we like to sew with these awesome and soft fabrics our sewing machines have a different idea. I have 6 tips that have helped me and my machine have a great relationship while sewing and creating with these fabrics.
MOST IMPORTANT, USE A NEW NEEDLE
1. When desired amount is cut, ready to use, machine-dry the pieces for a few minutes to remove the “fluffies” or “pills.”
2. Make sure to clean your throat plate, feed dogs, and bobbin case often as you sew.
3. If sewing plush fabric to another type of fabric, put the plush fabric on the bottom.
4. If you are using plush fabric to piece, use a slightly larger seam allowance, about 3/8 to 1/2 inch since plush fabric tends to curl when piecing. Press your seams open. also Use a longer stitch length, such as 3.0.
5. Using a walking foot, also helps to ensure your fabric stays straight and not stretch.
6. Cut your binding strips slightly wider (about 2-3/4” wide) when binding quilts that have plush fabric.
